CONVENTION PRE-TOUR · JUNE 17-21, 2023

‘Giro delle Montagne’ will be an exciting tour through the Western North Carolina mountains around Asheville, NC.  The Pre-Tour will last 3 days, with an extra half-day for travel to the convention hotel in Concord, NC.  Pre-Tour participants can veer off into downtown Asheville to enjoy art galleries, a world-class culinary scene, craft beer culture, and the bohemian vibe of Asheville. They can also tour the Biltmore Estate, the largest private home in America.

A maximum of 45 cars will be divided in up to 3 groups and there will be 3 separate daily tours. All 3 tours will run each day, and each group will be on a different tour each day.

The 3 tours will each run from about 9 AM to 4 PM.  They will all start and finish at the Pre-Tour hotel.  Tours will visit local attractions, provide stops for individual lunches,

and travel on some of the best mountain roads in the state.

TOUR 1 will travel on the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. Next it goes to Hot Springs, NC, for either a soak in a mineral spring hot tub or a visit to the town that is a major stopover on the Appalachian Trail. It ends by traveling back roads to the hotel.

TOUR 2 will be a trip to the Tail of the Dragon,

the famous mountain road with 318 curves in 11 miles.

Lunch will be at the historic Tapoco Lodge.

The trip includes a safe return to the hotel.

TOUR 3 will include more time on the Blue Ridge Parkway, and a visit to the Wheels Through Time motorcycle museum. The museum concentrates on

pre-WW2 American motorcycles, primarily racing bikes.

At least one waterfall will be seen on the way back to

the  hotel.

The TRANSIT TOUR on Wednesday, June 21 to

Concord, NC will be a slower trip to see the countryside, with minimal interstate highways, and a particularly

exciting hill climb.

 Pre-Tour participants are invited to arrive in Asheville on Friday, June 16 and spend Saturday, June 17             touring  downtown Asheville or the Biltmore Estate. Saturday tours will not be part of the Pre-Tour,                 and costs are not included in the Pre-Tour registration cost.

 Pre-Tour participants are invited to a Meet and Greet dinner on Saturday, June 17 from 7 PM to 9 PM.             This will include an orientation meeting.

 Pre-Tour will run Sunday, June 18 through Tuesday, June 20 with a half-day tour on Wednesday,

    June 21 for transit from Asheville, NC to Concord, NC.

 Pre-Tour participants are on their own in the evenings but will be given an extensive list of recommended      restaurants and breweries to choose from.

And beyond the vibrant, bohemian vibe of Asheville, Alfisti can come a day early or stay after the convention and tour the Biltmore Estate, the largest private home in America. 

The Asheville area is filled with fantastic experiences from strolling the River Arts District,

taking a waterfall tour to tubing down the French Broad River.
